The Export Market Development Grant (EMDG) is changing

Are you an Australian business exporting a good or service to the global market? 

If so, you may be eligible to receive support from AusTrade via the Export Market and Development Grant or EMDG.

Applications for the 2021 financial year are now open and applications for the 2022 financial year open 16 August 2021.

The EMDG scheme is a key Australian Government financial assistance program for aspiring and current exporters. Applicants for the EMDG grant 2022 financial year will enter into a grant agreement with Austrade and receive reimbursement of eligible expenses at regular intervals during the agreed period.

The 2022FY EMDG scheme provides businesses with the opportunity to receive a grant of $40,000, $80,000 or $150,000 depending on the stage of exporting. 

Small to medium enterprise (SME) exporters can apply for 3 different grants over 8 years (not necessarily consecutively) for eligible promotional activities.

Grants are available in 3 stages, called tiers. Each tier provides a different level of support for SMEs as they grow their export markets. The lengths of these grants reflect the different stages of an exporter’s journey.
